Homeownership Grant

The homeownership grant is designed to assist homebuyers pay the closing costs associated with purchasing a home. This grant could be the solution for you and your family,

Grant is forgiven at closing,

No Repayment!

  • The homeownership grant must be  used in conjunction with the City of San Diego Deferred Interest Loan.
  • Household must meet the income limits.  The income limits can be found HERE
  • Assistance of up to 4% of the sales price not to exceed $10,000
  • Sales price limit is $622,250 for a detached home and $410,875 for an attached property. (Effective Sept  2019)
  • The program has the  same borrower and  property eligibility requirements as the Deferred Interest Loan.
  • Grant can be applied towards recurring and non-recurring closing costs

Forgivable Loan

Loan balance is forgiven after 6 years if the property is still occupied by the applicant

  • The forgivable loan can be used without having to apply for the City of San Diego Deferred Interest Loan.
  • Household must meet the income limits.  The income limits can be found HERE
